On April 8, 2025, a 40-year-old man with the last name Moradi killed his wife, Zahra
Kordizadi, and their 5-year-old daughter, Sheyda Moradi, using a hunting rifle in the
village of Emam Gheis, a district of Borujen. State-run and pro-government media have
shown no signs of concern over this tragedy.
According to reports, the man first strangled his wife and then killed his young daughter
with a firearm before taking his own life. Due to the suicide, the motive behind the crime
remains unknown.
Killings involving firearms are often premeditated.
The use of a hunting rifle\u2014especially against a five-year-old child\u2014not only exposes
the extreme brutality of this act but also strongly indicates that it was deliberate and
planned in advance. This type of violence is deeply rooted in patriarchal structures, the
lack of protective measures for women, and the systemic disregard for their right to life.
Nevertheless, the response from government-affiliated media remains the same silence
that contributes to normalizing such violence. Killings labeled as \u201cfamily-related\u201d are
frequently pushed to the margins, left without analysis or attention to their social, legal,
and cultural causes. When a society fails to provide safety for its women and children
and remains indifferent to such tragedies, these crimes are not only repeated\u2014they
become normalized. What happened in Borujen today is not merely a domestic tragedy;
it is a warning about a structural crisis in a society that does not guarantee justice or
safety for its women and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
