As a result, male family members
(brothers, fathers, or even cousins) may resort to violence to “restore the family’s
honor.” Additionally, in cases where the suitor commits killing, the woman’s behavior
may be viewed as an insult or threat to his or his family’s honor.
These killings typically occur in areas where traditions and social norms hold significant
power, and in many cases, such communities do not provide adequate legal or social
support to protect women from this kind of violence. Lack of access to education and
social and legal awareness can also reinforce these harmful beliefs.
honor killings have deep-rooted causes in culture, economy, and religion, and should be
addressed as a human rights issue.

Follow news in the Stop honor Killings Campaign Telegram group:
https://t.me/stophonorkilling

Rezvan Moghaddam, spokesperson for the Campaign to Stop “Honor” Killings

Stop_Honor_Killings

Stop honor Killings Campaign

Follow the news on the Telegram group for the Campaign to Stop Honor Killings:
https://t.me/stophonorkilling

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, a 28-year-old woman named Ronak (Jeyran)Tavasolipour, a resident of Andimeshk in Khuzestan Province, was shot and killed byher suitor, Ali Shojaei.
