He called on the neighbors for
assistance. When the neighbors entered the house to help, they found the blood-
soaked body of the woman, who had been killed with multiple stab wounds. When the
criminal police arrived, the victim’s husband claimed that he had been sleeping in the
yard when the incident occurred and, upon waking, discovered his wife’s body in the
living room.
However, initial investigations revealed that the man had been having conflicts with his
wife, and neighbors had often heard their arguments. One of the family’s young children
even mentioned seeing their father standing over their mother with a knife the night
before.
Given the evidence, the police arrested the husband as the primary suspect to conduct
further investigations.
According to Rokna news agency: “During the initial interrogations, the suspect denied
any conflict or altercation with his wife. However, after being confronted with the
evidence, he confessed to committing the horrific crime and explained the situation: ‘For
a while, I had been suspicious of my wife due to her inappropriate relationships outside
our marriage. I secretly monitored her and discovered from her text messages that my
suspicions were true.’
The killer continued: ‘At that moment, I was overwhelmed with anger and decided to kill
her in her sleep. On the night of the incident, I told my family I would sleep in the yard.
Once everyone was asleep, I grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stood over my wife.
My mind was exploding, and in a moment, I stabbed her in the throat. After the killing,
my child woke up and saw my bloody hands, but I harshly told them to go back to
sleep.’
Suspicion is a major factor in many so-called “honor killings,” often emerging without
solid evidence. In societies where traditional values and concepts like “honor” and
“reputation” are heavily emphasized, even a rumor or the slightest sign of disobedience
by a woman can trigger extreme and irrational suspicion in men. This suspicion may
stem from fear of betrayal, social influences, or personality clashes, ultimately leading to
violent decisions. In such cases, men’s desire for control and ownership over women
intensifies, prompting them to resort to violence or murder to “protect their honor,”
targeting their wife, sister, or daughter.

Follow more updates on this issue through the Stop Honor Killings Campaign Telegram
group:

https://t.me/stophonorkilling
Rezvan Moghadam, spokesperson for the Campaign to Stop “honor” Killings.

In late September 2024, in one of the neighborhoods of Shahr-e Rey, a man screamedfor help, claiming that his wife had been murdered.
