On Thursday, March 6, 2025, a woman in Naqadeh \u2014 one of the southern cities in West
Azerbaijan province \u2014 was killed by her son. According to domestic media reports, the
75-year-old victim died as a result of a severe blow to her head. Although the
perpetrator has been arrested, neither his nor the victim\u2019s identity has been disclosed.
The motive for the crime has been labeled as \u201cfamily dispute.\u201d
The term family dispute is often used by state-affiliated or state-friendly media to portray
such murders as private matters and to deny the government\u2019s role in these tragedies.
Meanwhile, government media systematically promote anti-women rhetoric under the
guise of \u201creligious teachings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
