Rezvan Moghaddam: On Friday, May 24, 2025, the dismembered body of a young woman approximately 30 years old, was discovered in the Panjab area along the Haraz highway in Amol County.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been determined, had been brutally mutilated.
Her remains were found stuffed inside a pink suitcase and abandoned by the roadside.
Upon receiving a report from local citizens, police forces arrived at the scene, and the
Criminal Investigation Department has launched a specialized inquiry to identify the
woman and locate the perpetrator(s).
This crime represents one of the most extreme forms of gender-based violence. It is a
grim reflection of the devaluation of women\u2019s bodies in a society still plagued by
structural misogyny, lack of gender education, and the inaction of legal institutions.
The mutilation of a body is not only a tactic to conceal identity, it is often a method
used to humiliate, control, or “punish” the woman. The pink suitcase in this case stands
as a haunting symbol of womanhood in a society where women are still denied even the
most basic physical security.
Questions that must be asked:
Who is responsible for the vulnerability of women to such violence?
How many more women will silently fall victim before systemic change occurs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If gender-based violence is hidden, it will continue.
