Killing of a 59-Year-Old Woman in Khomein by Her 66-Year-Old

Husband with a Firearm

On April 12, 2024, a 59-year-old woman was killed by her husband in Khomein using a
hunting rifle.
According to Mehr News Agency, the suspect, a 66-year-old man, confessed to killing
his wife due to familial conflicts. The killing was premeditated, as obtaining and
possessing a firearm is not easy in Iran due to the prohibition of carrying weapons.
A significant number of murders are committed using firearms. Government-affiliated
media often label these honor killings, which are often based on suspicion, as “family
killings” and attribute the motive to “family conflicts,” which conceals the results of
promoting a misogynistic culture.
