Middle-Aged Man Runs Over His Wife with a Car

On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 20, 2025, a middle-aged man ran over his
wife with his car. He then took her lifeless body to the emergency room of a hospital in
Qazvin, claiming that his wife had been involved in an accident. Later, under the pretext
of moving the car, he fled the scene.
According to reports from media outlets, including “Khabar Fori,” the case was reported
to the criminal team of Qazvin County. The car’s license plate number was obtained
from surveillance cameras and was shared with the police across the country.
Eventually, on the afternoon of Friday, February 23, 2025, the officers from the
Vardavard Police Station noticed the suspect’s vehicle and arrested him. It was revealed
that the middle-aged woman was from and a resident of Hamadan Province. When the
suspect was transferred to the Ninth Branch of the Criminal Court of Tehran for
questioning, he confessed to killing his wife.
Regarding the death of his wife, he said, “I had problems with my wife for a long time,
and on the day of the incident, we were driving out of Hamadan Province. On the way,
we had another argument. I got angry, stopped the car by the side of the road, and my
wife got out of the car. Then, suddenly, I ran her over with the car. When I came to my
senses, I got scared and hurriedly put her back in the car. I wanted to go back to
Qazvin, but the thought that the police might arrest me or that her family might do
something to me made me take her to a hospital in Qazvin.”
The identities of both the killer and the victim have not been disclosed in media reports.
It is noteworthy that during interrogations, many male perpetrators do not fully disclose
the truth and try to conceal their true motives through vague and contradictory stories.
In this case, the suspect confessed to killing his wife after being transferred to the Ninth
Branch of the Criminal Court, but his statements may only reflect part of the truth. His
claim of “family disputes” and the incident happening while driving may be seen as an
attempt to reduce the severity of the punishment and weaken the accusations.
This incident once again underscores the importance of thorough investigations and
deep questioning in cases of domestic violence and related killings. In many cases, the
hidden realities behind the defendants’ statements can be very different from what they
claim.
