Statement by the Stop Honor Killings Campaign: In Condemnation the war and defending the Iranian people.
At a time when our homeland is engulfed in the flames of an imposed war, we choose to be the voice of a people who have endured decades of structural violence, poverty, repression, discrimination, and despotism. We firmly stress that the path to saving Iran does not pass through war, foreign intervention, or the bombing of our land. In the name of the people, in the name of women, children, and civilians the most defenseless victims of military adventurism we condemn war. Any attack on Iran is an attack on the Iranian people, not just on the oppressive structure of the Islamic Republic.
Both the Islamic Republic and Israeli, as militarized and patriarchal powers, are among the primary sources of instability and insecurity in the Middle East. The Islamic Republic, through its aggressive policies, support for proxy groups, domestic repression, and nuclear adventurism, and Israel, through its expansionist policies, occupation, and repeated disregard for international resolutions, have both fueled the cycle of violence, militarization, and the destruction of peace infrastructure in the region. These two regimes, by exploiting fear, enemy-making, and propaganda, violate the rights of their own people and their neighbors and hold the prospects of peaceful coexistence and sustainable development hostage.
For years, the Islamic Republic has plunged the country into isolation through destructive policies and spread the seeds of crisis and instability across the region. However, the response to this regime must not be war and the imposition of further suffering on the Iranian people. Past experiences from Afghanistan to Iraq have shown that foreign military intervention does not lead to freedom or democracy. Only the Iranian people themselves, relying on indigenous civil and democratic movements, can rescue the country from tyranny.
With hearts full of sorrow, we extend our solidarity to all civilians in Iran and Israel who have become victims of this cycle of violence and war. Women, children, and defenseless people in both countries—without any role in political or military decisions have become primary targets of these deadly conflicts. Their shared suffering is a stark reminder of the urgent need for peace and human dignity in the region.
We call on the international community and all global institutions to focus on stopping the war, supporting diplomacy, and protecting civilian lives. We raise serious concerns about media and psychological operations aimed at shifting public opinion in favor of war-mongering. We urge all Iranian political and civil forces to voice their independent and unequivocal opposition to war, civilian casualties, instability, and repression.
We stand firmly with the people of Iran for peace, justice, and the right to live in a free, safe, and independent country. We see war not only as a false solution but as a grave threat to the hard-won achievements of freedom movements, especially the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. This land must be liberated by the will of its people, not by missiles and bombs.
