21-Year-Old Woman Set on Fire by Her Husband

On Saturday, April 3rd, 2022, #Zahra_Zienalpour, a young woman born in 2001 in the city of Shout, a victim of a child marriage, who was set on fire by her husband on Friday, April 15th, 2022, died due to the severity of her injuries and another page was added to the indictment against the apartheid and anti-feminist Islamic government.

An informed source about the killing of Zahra Zienalpour by her husband said; “Zahra got married when she was 14 or 15 and now, she is the mother of a three-year-old child.”

“Her husband had been cheating on her all these years. In front of this woman, he brought other women to their house for sexual activities and whenever Zahra objected, he battered her. The last time this violence took place in the worst way and took Zahra’s life.”

This informed source continued about the details of the murder; ” on Friday, April 15th, 2022, Zahra again protested against her husband’s immorality and misbehavior, telling him that she would tell everything to her family. She wanted to call her father.”

“In an instant, her husband emptied a 20-liter container of gasoline on Zahra and the house and lit a match. The heater was on as well and the fire got everywhere, and Zahra suffered severe burns.” According to the information received, the husband took her to the hospital and fled himself. He has not been arrested at the time of writing this report.

According to this informed person, news related to honor killings in Shut city are not generally covered by the media; “People have a strange collaboration in hiding what is happening. Many of them believe that publicizing these honor killings cause the city reputation to deteriorate.  In this believes, the reputation of the city is more valuable than the lives of human beings.”

The main cause of this disaster act is the patriarchal Islamic laws that governing Iran and countries where women have no independent existence and are considered property of the men. Even if women disobey and challenge their status, the same laws leave men free to commit violence against women to the point of killing.
