Suspicious death of Aida on Hormuz Island: killing or systematic Cover-Up?

By: Rezvan Moghaddam

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the body of a teenage girl named Aida was discovered in an
abandoned building on Hormuz Island. According to the state-run Rokna news agency,
several days had passed since her death, yet no official cause or confirmation of
whether it was a crime has been publicly announced. However, the victim’s name has
been released, indicating that her identity is known to authorities.
This raises a series of serious and deeply troubling questions:
 Why have local and official media, despite knowing Aida’s identity, not
interviewed her family or relatives?
 Why is there no clear, documented, or compassionate official account regarding
the suspicious death of a teenage girl?
 Why do intelligence and security agencies—so quick to act on political
matters—respond with such slowness, indifference, or inaction when it comes to
potential murders or suspicious deaths of young girls?
In many such cases, the victims were subjected to sexual, domestic, or social violence,
and their deaths were not natural occurrences but the result of direct or indirect
pressure and threats. In a society where laws, media, and institutions fail to provide
value or safety for women and children, these tragedies will keep recurring—and the
voices of the victims will continue to be silenced.
In this case, too, we ask:
 Why has there been no transparent response, independent investigation, or field
report regarding Aida’s death?
 Why the silence from the media?
 Why is there no political will to investigate the deaths of teenage girls in remote
and marginalized areas?
We demand a swift and transparent clarification of the cause of Aida’s death, interviews
with her family, and the immediate launch of an independent investigation.
Aida represents a generation that has been denied safety and the right to live.
We will not forget. We will not be silent. And we will demand answers until the truth
comes to light.
