Young Woman Killed by Her Husband in Ferdowsiyeh, Shahriar
On Sunday, August 4, 2024, a young woman was killed by her husband in Ferdowsiyeh,
Shahriar, a suburb of Tehran. The killing occurred during a heated verbal and physical
argument inside the couple’s car. The husband repeatedly slammed the victim’s head
against the car’s body and inflicted injuries to her face and neck, ultimately leading to
her death.
According to Mehr News Agency, Peyman Fattahi, the commander of the Shahriar
Police, stated that following a report of a murder in Ferdowsiyeh, officers from the 110
Police Emergency Center were dispatched to the scene to investigate.
Peyman Fattahi added that upon the police’s arrival, they discovered the body of a
woman lying on the ground. Nearby, about 50 meters from the victim, they found a
suspicious Peugeot 405 with its doors open and bloodstains visible on the seats. A
middle-aged man was found unconscious next to the car.
The middle-aged man was arrested on charges of murder, and the motive behind the
crime was labeled as “family disputes.” The terms “family disputes” and “family
murders” are frequently used by the police, government-affiliated media, and officials.
These vague and undefined terms are employed to obscure the nature of “honor
killings” and to avoid scrutiny of the laws and educational practices that support such
killings.
