Killing of a Woman and Her Brother in Kahnuj with a Firearm
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Kahnuj County of Kerman Province, a woman and her
brother were brutally killed by the woman’s husband. The killer first attacked them with a
firearm and then deliberately ran them over with a car, killing both.
According to informed sources, the incident followed previous disputes between the
woman and her husband. The victims, identified by the last name Darvishi Divan Morad
and residents of Chah-Hajji village, were in downtown Kahnuj when the husband
tracked them down.
He first opened fire on them, and then used his Pride vehicle to run them over. The
woman’s brother died at the scene, and the woman submitted to her injuries at the
hospital shortly after.
As of now, no report has been published regarding the arrest of the killer.
The case has drawn public attention, especially given that Kerman Province has
witnessed several similar killings in recent years, often tied to so-called family honor or
domestic disputes.
This double killing underscores the escalating pattern of gender-based violence in Iran,
where disputes and control are too often settled with deadly force.
The targeting of both the woman and her brother highlights the extended reach of
violence aimed at punishing women and those who support them.
