Man Kills Wife and Sets House on Fire to Cover Up the Crime

On Saturday, June 15, 2024, a young woman in Bandar Abbas, the capital of
Hormozgan province, was killed by her husband, who then set the victim’s body on fire.
The name of the 27-year-old woman has not been disclosed in the media. The husband
first strangled his wife and then set the house on fire to eliminate evidence of the crime
and make it appear that her death was due to a house fire.
According to Entekhab’s report, the perpetrator was arrested by military forces after
committing the crime. During initial interrogations, he cited family disputes as the reason
for killing his wife, stating that prior disagreements and conflicts with her led him to
commit such a heinous act and set the house on fire to disrupt the crime scene.
In government and government-affiliated media, “family disputes” are often mentioned
as the motive for killing. However, “family disputes” is a vague term that not only
obscures the government’s role in the increase of femicides, often carried out by male
family members such as husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, and cousins, but also
lacks a clear definition and has not been properly explained to date.
