Once Again “honor” Took a Victim in Sanandaj
Sahar Moradi, another victim of “honor” killings
According to the Campaign Reporter from Sanandaj, on Friday, December 3rd, 2021, two brothers named Hamid and Omid stabbed and killed their 33-year-old sister, Sahar Moradi (Rezaei). Sahar Moradi was from the village of Baweh Riz near Sanandaj, who lost her husband, Haidar Rezaei, two years ago and was taking care of her two young children. Her brothers severely insult and beat her three days before she was killed because she “had an affair with another person”. She was taken to Kosar Hospital in Sanandaj on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021, due to the severity of his injuries. After being released from the hospital, she was returned to her mother’s house, where her brothers stabbed her several times to death.
So far, none of the killers have been arrested by the police, and Sahar’s body was buried without any ceremony in the village of Baweh Riz on Saturday, December 4th, 2021.
Cultural deficiency, non-recognition of women’s human rights, the right to own the body and soul of women, mis teaching about the control of women, the protection of the law against violent men and the existence of anti-women laws are among the causes of honor killings that have become a social crisis today.
The Stop honor Killings Campaign calls on all awakened consciences to work with awareness-raising to end genocide in the name of “preserving honor.”
