Faezeh Maleki Nia’s Father, who Set her on Fire, was Acquitted of Murder!

On Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, a group of Kurdish women activists gathered in front of the courthouse in Sanandaj to protest the murder of Faezeh Maleki Nia. The women held placards at the rally that read: “nowhere is safe for women anymore, we are all Faezeh, we are all responsible about killing women, no to killing women.”

Faezeh Maleki Nia, 22, one day after an 85% burn, died in a hospital in Sanandaj on October 3rd, 2021, Faiza Maleki Nia, after divorce, wanted to marry someone else, but her father opposed her remarrying. The latest reports indicate that on the night of October 2nd, 2021, Faezeh’s father set her daughter on fire in the garden toilet by pouring gasoline on her body. The news of Faezeh Maleki’s condition was first published on social media by her surgeon, Iman Navabi. Faezeh had told Dr. Navabi that her father had set her on fire.

The victim’s sister told the Iran Watch website: “My father was tried and a court order was issued in my sister’s case, and my father was acquitted in this case.

Habib Maleki Nia, the girl’s father had previously been released on bail after his arrest.
