Killer Sets Himself on Fire Simultaneously with Burning His Wife

On Wednesday May 1st, 2024, a young woman named Shahin Goyli, a mother of a 14-
year-old child, was set on fire by her husband, Mehran Mohammadi, in their father’s
house in the Ghafoor neighborhood of Sanandaj. She was transferred to the hospital
but died at Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj due to injuries caused by burns.
According to Hengaw, citing a source close to the Goyli family, Shahin had returned to
her parents’ home some time ago due to conflicts with her husband and had requested
a divorce. On the day of the incident, Mehran had asked her to return home, and upon
Shahin’s refusal, Mehran poured gasoline on both her and himself, setting them on fire.
Mehran Mohammadi also died on the same day and in the same hospital.
